North HELP Coalition

Background:
The North HELP Coalition is led by the Mount Sinai Health System. The North HELP Coalition is supported by federal funding provided by the Administration for Strategic Preparedness and Response (ASPR) and administered by the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (NYC DOHMH). The North HELP Coalition was founded by a group of health care emergency preparedness experts from various national, New York State, and New York City agencies.

Mission:
The North HELP Coalition’s mission is to improve the emergency preparedness of medically vulnerable populations. The North HELP Coalition provides resources and education to patients with special medical needs and their providers to prepare for, respond to, and recover from a disaster.

Our Efforts:
The North HELP Coalition, established in 2010, originally focused on cancer patients, transplant recipients, and people with end stage renal disease (ESRD) receiving dialysis. Since 2013, the Coalition’s primary focus has been on the dialysis community.
