This fascinating presentation will feature two renowned physicians who will discuss groundbreaking technology that allows for the objective diagnosis of concussions. Dr. Michael McCrea, an international lecturer on traumatic brain injuries, will begin by discussing TBI Biomarkers and their use in diagnosing concussions. Then, Dr Uzma Samadani, a lauded neurosurgeon and brain injury researcher, will introduce the first concussion diagnostic technology to be cleared by the FDA which uses ocular nerve function to diagnose concussions even without a baseline.

Navigating the Long Road of Medicare Secondary Payer Compliance
This panel of experts will provide an update on what documentation is needed to obtain a well-constructed MSA allocation, the factors involved in deciding whether or not to submit an MSA to CMS for approval, the effect that potential civil money penalties may have on MSP compliance, and how to avoid having your case referred to the Dept of Treasury.

Legal Update: Proposed Legislative Changes and a Status from OWCH
Attorney Charlie Domer will provide an update on the status of the Advisory Council discussions and the outlook for potential new changes to our statute. Chief Judge Hamdy Ezalarab will introduce several of the judges who have recently joined OWCH, and will provide an update on hearings, mediations and settlement conferences.

Evidence Based Medicine: Is it real?
Dr. Zoran Maric, an accomplished orthopedic spine surgeon, will discuss evidence-based medicine, his application of the same in his day-to-day practice, and it’s use within the worker’s compensation industry. Administrative Law Judge Edward Falkner will then provide his opinion of this practice and his position on it’s use and effectiveness in worker’s compensation cases. This will be an interesting medical and legal discussion that you will not want to miss.
