Common Work Place Elbow Injuries: How they occur and how we treat them
Dr. Saltzman will provide expertise on worksite risk factors leading to the development of common elbow injuries. He will discuss what to consider when assessing compensability in terms of lifting, positional ergonomics, frequency and repetition. Attendees will gain knowledge of the basic anatomical structure of the elbow, along with appropriate and conservative medical or surgical management with expected outcomes all through clinical examples in his own practice. Finally, Dr. Saltzman will present ‘red flags’ that may signal treatment complications or ongoing unnecessary redundant care.

A House Divided: Apportionment of PPD and Other Hot Legal Topics
There are many uncertainties regarding how Wis. Stats. Sec. 102.175(3), which allows for apportionment of permanent partial disability for traumatic work injuries occurring after March 1, 2016, will be applied. This discussion includes an analysis of how the law has been applied so far and how it might be applied going forward, and will also touch upon recent proposed legislative changes.

Stem Cell Injection Therapy Revisited
Two years ago, Dr. Kurpad discussed the improved neurological function in spinal cord injury (SCI) patients who participated in stem cell injection therapy. This year he will discuss how the past two years have impacted this procedure, address the procedure’s results globally, as well as improvements that have been made in the procedure. Dr. Kurpad will be joined by Dr. Michael McCrea, who will discuss major breakthroughs in advanced diagnostics for traumatic brain injury (TBI), which pave the way for more effective treatment trials for TBI. These advances in SCI and TBI are all directed at building a precision model for neurotrauma.

Custom Joint Replacements & Alternative Therapies to Surgery
This presentation will address building custom joint replacements and the difference between a standard approach to replacement versus building a custom joint for the patient in advance, along with the outcomes of joint replacements and how to maximize them. Dr. Niesen will also discuss alternative therapies such as stem cell injection into joints, explaining the pros and cons of such treatments.
