SPEAKERS

Matthew Harris, MD

Medical Director, Northwell Health Emergency Preparedness Associate Medical Director, Northwell Center for EMS Attending Physician, Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine Assistant Professor, Pediatrics (Emergency Medicine)

Dr. Matthew Harris is a Pediatric Emergency Medicine and EMS Physician with Northwell Health (New Hyde Park, NY). Dr. Harris is triple-board certified in General Pediatrics, Pediatric Emergency Medicine, and EMS/Disaster Medicine. Involved in EMS since 1998, Dr. Harris has volunteered as an EMT, paramedic, and EMS physician. He serves as the medical director for the Cohen Children’s Medical Center Pediatric Critical Care Transport team and as Associate Medical Director for the Northwell Center for Emergency Medical Services. He sits on the New York State EMS for Children Advisory Committee, and has held key leadership positions in the American Academy of Pediatrics and National Association of EMS Physicians. His key foci of interest is in prehospital and interfacility transport of critically ill or injured children, and pediatric readiness.


Vera Feuer, MD

Associate Vice President, School Mental Health, Northwell Health
Director, Pediatric Emergency Psychiatry and Behavioral Health Urgent Care, CCMC

Dr. Feuer completed residency training at Drexel University and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship at Hofstra-Northwell Health. She has been on faculty at Northwell for 15 years and has experience in Pediatric and Adult Addiction-, Consultation-, and Emergency Psychiatry. She has been working in emergency and crisis psychiatry developing telepsychiatry and urgent care models as well as community embedded urgent care centers in partnership with schools. She has been collaborating with school districts to expand access to mental health care for students as well as to provide community education and professional development to school communities. She is a leader in local and national workgroups developing care standards for pediatric crisis behavioral health care and she is a Distinguished Fellow of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. She is an Associate Professor of Psychiatry, Pediatrics and Emergency Medicine at the Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell Health.

Her interests include access to mental health care for children, suicide prevention and collaborating with schools and primary care providers.
