Brewmaster Kirby Nelson will produce a special beer for the event! The beer he is supplying for this year’s gathering is one that’s near and dear to his heart. It is a pre-prohibition pilsner.

“A number of years ago I was gifted with an original brew sheet from Schlitz, dated April 7th, 1911. Very cool indeed and I studied the thing. And then gave it a bit of thought. I messed with the formula and ended up with a very, very nice beer. What is interesting that part of the grain bill for this beer is white corn grits. White corn grits were replaced by yellow corn grits post prohibition by the breweries that used corn, which were the majority of them in the country at that time.

I ended up with a beer that has more overall character than the domestic (Bud, Miller, etc) beers of today but is still very easy to drink and represents the type of beer that made Milwaukee/Wisconsin famous. Nothing funky strange like many craft beers are today, just pure liquid love.”
