Making Medical History: How stem cells can restore function in spinal cord injury patients
Dr. Kurpad will discuss his groundbreaking research and clinical study on using stem cells to improve neurological function and reduce the amount of disability in spinal cord injury patients. He’ll present the case of one young man in his study who regained two levels of function and motor skills following an injury to the C5-6 level of his spine. You’ll learn how and why regaining levels of neurological function impacts the patient’s quality of life and ability to work. Michele Albers, a life care planner, will also discuss how gaining levels of neurological function financially impacts a worker’s compensation claim involving a spinal cord injury.
